Mangaluru, 22 March

Another woman has filed a complaint of rape against an inspector of the Moodbidri Police Station, who was recently suspended in Beltangadi taluk in Mangaluru. Three women had earlier accused him of sexual harassment.

In her complaint, the survivor, who is a teacher, has alleged that the accused, Sandesh BG, had subjected her to repeated sexual assault between 2018 and 2023, under threat and coercion.

She stated that the accused would visit her residence, and raped her and threaten her with dire consequences if she dared to raise her voice against him.

The woman eventually registered her complaint at the Vennuru Police Station on 21 March.

The police officer had been suspended from his services after three women filed separate complaints against him before the State Chief Minister, Home Minister, Chief Secretary and the Karnataka State Commission for Women.

Police have registered a case against the accused and are conducting an investigation in the matter.
